What are the different types of tattoo needles and how do they differ
Apr 04, 2023
There are several types of tattoo needles, each with a different configuration and designed for specific purposes. Here are some of the most common types:
1. Round Liner (RL): A round liner consists of a single needle arranged in a round configuration. This is the most commonly used needle for outlining and creating fine details.
2. Round Shader (RS): A round shader also consists of a single needle arranged in a round configuration, but the needle is thicker than the round liner. This type of needle is used for shading larger areas and creating smooth gradients.
3. Magnum (M1, M2, M3): Magnum needles contain multiple needles arranged in a flat or angled configuration. The number of needles in a Magnum needle can vary from two to more than 50. Magnums are used to shade larger areas as well as to create soft edges between different ink colors.
4. Flat: A flat needle consists of a row of closely spaced needles arranged in a straight line. This type of needle is ideal for creating lines with thicker or wider strokes.
5. Textured: Textured needles have a rough surface that creates a unique texture on the skin. They're commonly used for creating special effects or adding detail to an image.
